Yuri Hernández is a Cuban trumpet player whose music embodies the rich cultural tapestry of his homeland while embracing the cosmopolitan spirit of contemporary Europe. Born and raised in Candelaria, Cuba, he was immersed in music from an early age, trained in classical technique at the renowned conservatories of Havana.
His trumpet playing is characterized by a warm, penetrating tone and an improvisational sensibility that draws from both the rigorous classical tradition and the spontaneous, syncopated spirit of Cuban son, mambo, and jazz. Yuri's music doesn't simply occupy one genre — it is a conversation between them all.
Now based in Barcelona, Yuri has built a reputation as one of the most compelling trumpet voices in the European Latin jazz scene. He performs regularly across Spain, France, and Italy, and has shared the stage with some of the most respected names in Cuban and Latin music.
